First Tamil Film
Tamil cinema starts the film industry in Keechaka Vadham movie in 1917. Keechaka Vadham film is an Indian silent film produced and directed by R. Nataraja Mudaliar. The first Tamil film is a silent/no voice film. The film was taken by only 35 days in Nataraja Mudaliar's production house, Chennai. In that generation technology, the film was shoot by 16 frames per second. The film was just taken by 35,000 and success of the movie hit by a box office of 50,000.
First Sound Film
The first Tamil sound film is Kalidas in 1931, it’s an Indian Tamil and Telugu language biographical film directed by H. M. Reddy and produced by Ardeshir Irani. The film released in Tamil and Telugu languages. The first Indian sound film is Alam Ara, it’s an Indian film directed by Ardeshir Irani in 1931, the film released in Hindi and Urdu languages. Now Tamil cinema is the third-largest film industry in the world, continuous of first Hollywood and second Bollywood. There are 745 cinema theatres in Tamil Nadu.
